The Traditional Kempo Committee is responsible for safeguarding, preserving, promoting and developing the traditional values, technical heritage, and cultural identity of Kempo within IKF, ensuring a balanced coexistence between modernization/professionalization and respect for the roots of the martial art.

 

1. Protection of Tradition and Authenticity

  • preserves and promotes the traditional values of Kempo
  • safeguards the observance of principles, etiquette, and martial spirit
  • prevents the dilution or distortion of tradition in a competitive context

2. Traditional Technical Standardization

  • defines and updates traditional technical standards
    (forms, techniques, kihon, kata, traditional applications)
  • establishes unified criteria for examinations, ranks and traditional titles

3. Lineage & Recognition

  • documents and recognizes traditional lineages
  • validates masters, instructors, and traditional schools
  • maintains historical and technical archives

4. Education & Martial Culture

  • develops educational programs related to the history of Kempo, martial philosophy and ethics, traditional ceremony and protocol
  • cooperates with the IKF Education & Development Committee

5. Harmonization with Modern Amateur & Professional Sport of Kempo

  • provides guidance on the integration of tradition into competitions, rules standardization, demonstrations, international events
  • ensures identity coherence between traditional and professional Kempo
