The International Kempo Federation is committed to ensuring a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants involved in its activities.

This Safeguarding Policy sets out the Federation’s commitment to protecting athletes, officials, volunteers, and other participants from abuse, harassment, discrimination, or harm within the scope of its activities.

2. Scope of Application

This Policy applies to:

  • Members of the Executive Board
  • Officials, referees, and technical delegates
  • Coaches and support personnel involved in IKF activities
  • Volunteers and individuals acting on behalf of the Federation
  • Participants in IKF-recognized events and activities

3. Safeguarding Principles

The International Kempo Federation is guided by the following safeguarding principles:

  • Respect for the dignity, rights, and well-being of all individuals
  • Zero tolerance for abuse, harassment, discrimination, or exploitation
  • Special consideration for the protection of minors and vulnerable persons
  • Promotion of safe, respectful, and inclusive sporting environments

4. Responsibilities

The Federation:

  • Promotes awareness of safeguarding principles among its members
  • Encourages national federations and event organizers to adopt appropriate safeguarding measures in accordance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Acts within its statutory role to support safeguarding and integrity in international Kempo activities

Safeguarding responsibilities at event level are primarily implemented by national federations and event organizers, in accordance with local legislation and applicable regulations.

5. Reporting and Concerns

Individuals are encouraged to report safeguarding concerns through appropriate channels at national or event-organizer level.

Where concerns relate directly to the activities or responsibilities of the International Kempo Federation, such matters may be referred to the Federation’s competent governing bodies for review in accordance with its Statutes and internal procedures.

6. Confidentiality and Fair Process

All safeguarding-related matters shall be handled:

  • With due respect for confidentiality
  • In a fair and impartial manner
  • In accordance with applicable laws and the Federation’s internal regulations

7. Relationship with National Federations

The International Kempo Federation recognizes that safeguarding responsibilities are primarily exercised at national and local levels.

National federations are encouraged to:

  • Implement safeguarding policies consistent with local legislation
  • Take appropriate measures to protect minors and vulnerable participants
  • Promote safe sporting environments within their jurisdictions

8. Review and Updates

This Safeguarding Policy may be reviewed and updated periodically to reflect evolving international standards, legal requirements, and best practices in sport governance.
